About the event
Kuranda Roots Festival has been a showcase for local and touring artists since 2003, with a focus on roots, reggae, soul, bass music, and appreciation and respect for indigenous culture.
Held annually in the lush grounds of The Billabong 3km from Kuranda village, the event has been a favourite of locals and travellers alike. Overnight camping is available in the well-equipped campgrounds at the Billabong.
Our first line up release includes Europe's ragga dancehall queen Soom T, Oz dub reggae superstars Kingfisha, the mighty 4'20 sound from Byron, Melbourne's well wicked Kodiak Kid and many more to be announced.
In a celebration of culture, this year Roots will be featuring spear throwing by local Bama, a didge playing competition (open to all ages) as well as an exciting line up of bands, troubadours, poets and bass music artists. This year The Kuranda Roots Festival is being held on the 22nd – 23rd June.
A special pre-party will be held on 22nd June at a secret location, followed by the main Festival on 23rd June at the Billabong.
