As part of the ongoing commitment to a cleaner environment and sustainable practices the crew from Island Vibe is initiating a supported cycle transport option to and from the festival.
Our aim is to make cycling to Island Vibe as easy and as much fun as possible.
On offer this year is a luggage collection/drop-off point in Brisbane and Cleveland, a guided cycle-friendly route to the festival, spectacular vistas of the Island and Ocean and of course much kudos from those that aspire to help make our home planet a more pleasant place to live!
If you would like more information about this exciting way to travel please email (I'll set up email account with the same name as above) to register your interest: firstname.lastname@example.org
SHARE A RIDE / CAR POOL
Sign up to www.jayride.com.au if you have a spare seat or need a lift. Lift-sharing can help pay fuel (and ferry!) costs, minimise traffic congestion and benefit the environment by splitting emissions produced by a car in half...or by a third, or into quarters! You might just meet some cool people too.
You can also check out our Lifts & Accommodation page on facebook.
BY TRAIN & BUS
This is a great option for the environmentally conscious and those who pack light traveling to/from central Brisbane costing around A$50.00 return (non-concession). To do this catch a Cleveland train from either Roma Street, Central Station or Southbank Station in the city and stay on the train to the end of the line at Cleveland (schedule can be found here). The cost from Roma Street return is around A$16.00 (non-concession) and the journey will take around 50 minutes. You will find a FREE BUS (with Stradbroke Ferries on the front) waiting to take you to catch the next available water taxi to Dunwich. There are regular trips across the bay seven days a week by a few different operators. A water taxi trip is usually around 15 – 20 minutes and will run in most weather conditions and costs around A$20.00 return.
The North Stradbroke Island Bus Service has adapted their runs between Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout around the arrival and departure of the water taxis. This is a great service, which means there is a bus to meet every boat and get you to where you want to go.
The bus journey from Dunwich to Point Lookout takes about 20 minutes and costs A$5.00 one way for adults and A$2.50 one way for students and pensioners. This service is great for day-trippers who want to see as much of the island as possible in one day. The bus stops at the festival site at Home Beach and within walking distance to most of the resorts and campgrounds located close by to the festival.
Follow the directions in your street directory to Cleveland and follow the signs to the ferry or water taxi terminals.
Drug and Alcohol Policy
To celebrate our 10th year we will be operating a cocktail bar, serving a variety of tropical concoctions, craft beer and cider on tap. You must have 18 +Photo ID to enter. We ask that you drink responsibly and remember - consumption of alcohol outside the bar area is strictly forbidden and anyone caught with alcohol will be removed from the festival and have their wristband confiscated.
Island Vibe Festival is held on the traditional land of the Quandamooka People of Moreton Bay. Please respect the community and the environment at all times.
Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) lies 30km south east of Brisbane City and is only 13km from the bayside suburb of Cleveland. The island has a static population of around 3000, but at holiday times this figure rises considerably to encompass around 30,000 people. There are three townships on the island; the first of these is Dunwich where you will arrive by ferry or water taxi on the western side of the island.
From the FERRY, it is approximately a 20 min drive to the festival site at Point Lookout. Camp grounds, resorts and holiday houses are located in a 5km radius of the festival site and public transport is available around the island, with festival shuttle buses operating from campgrounds during festival hours.
